We are a group of guys, many from the Monday Night AA Men's Sponsor/Sponsee Big Book Study, That now meets on Tuesdays. When Monday night football started getting in the way of some of the guys ability to stick to their commitments, we started meeting on Tuesdays. (Sounds enabling I know, but hey, we like to stay in the solution)
We have had a small group (20-25 men) of us get together once a year, to get away from it all and "seek outside help" in the way of a spiritual retreat weekend. These retreats are a way to relax and rejuvenate in the beauty of the Central California Coast.
We have found this practice to be very beneficial and rewarding. The joy received from seeing a new guy experience the fun and camaraderie we have is priceless. We wanted to open our retreat to more people who may benefit from this practice.
Then, one member of the group presented the opportunity to expand on the weekend in a way that invites all (or at least more) who wish to experience what we have found. He was able to secure this amazing group campsite called Camp Yeager.
Camp Yeager, located in Cambria California on the Pacific Coast,
The camp accommodates 130 people so we voted to expand this weekend to all clean and sober members of the 12 step programs such as NA, AA, CA, HA, MA and others that focus on the 12 steps for the recovery from substances.
The weekend will utilize the literature of the AA program in the building of the workshops and speaker meetings. Most of the content will and be specifically focused on steps 10 and 11 since they are universally excepted by all 12 step programs.
This will be the first annual and we are going to be constantly working to make this a weekend an opportunity for attendees to learn something, do something, and to possibly adapt some habits to enter into a deeper and more rewarding spiritual life.
We pray that the energy we all bring to this first ever retreat, will add to the event in ways that may make it a tradition for many years to come. If you have any questions or comments, please reach out and we will do our best to provide you with the answers you seek.
